Updated: Oct 16, 2022
Cornona Virus (Covid-19) is a viral infection with symptoms of flu, fever, cough, sore throat, lethargy, difficulty in breathing etc. The complications can become more severe resulting in loss of life. The fatality rate is not high and 85 - 95% of those will recover from it, however a very small percentage will become very seriously ill without symptom management. Those at risk from more severe complications and those who have to be particularly vigilant are those who are having pre-disposed health conditions for example diabetes, cardiac ailments, hypertension, lung problems, immune compromised disorders and anyone who has undergone an recent organ transplant or has been on steroids for a long time.
There are millions of viruses all around us and we have to learn to live with them. Ayurveda says how we can manage for the person not to go to the complicated stages. It tells us how to manage the complications and the symptoms which will be different for all but with some more common symptoms prevalent ie. fever, cough, tiredness and loss of taste or smell with early onset symptoms being slightly different i.e. tiredness, aches and pains, sore throat diarrhea. Without managing the symptoms the virus can be quite virulent that it can supersede our entire constitution.
The system gets contaminated by toxins which results in the the accumulation of fluid/phlegm which obstructs the respiratory tract. The fever begins to increase the heat to kill the virus pathogens that have entered the body, taking it as a hostage. This triggers the response in the immune system and as a result, fever, inflammation kicks in as a protective mechanism to kill the virus. Because of the fever, the appetite decreases and then digestive fire is weakened.
It is important to keep the digestion as clear as possible during sickness. This means to avoid rich or heavy food or food that has been highly process. A light, easily digestive diet is advised or best of all, 3 - 4 days specific fasting regime to increase the digestive strength and prevent the formation of more toxins and fluid would be recommended for more effective treatment. This is given in combination with our protocol treatment and herbal remedies. The body will try to get rid of the toxins and this is why diarrhea or vomiting may occur as a symptom, the natural mechanism to get rid of toxins quickly. By Ayurvedic treatment the fluid will be able to come out of the lungs and the congestion will be eased as the chest clears and blood oxygen level, circulation and breathing improves. With this treatment the virus should be controlled by 3/4 days, rather than progressing to a severe stage.
We all need to be getting better as we can overcome this virus and we are all able to create health in our body with natural things and natural wellness. We need to be getting on with our lives and putting things into perspective.
