My journey and first experience with Ayurveda began as a student working on foundation projects in rural communities in northern India.  I worked alongside medical health care professionals and doctors from all principles including Ayurveda, Naturopathy, Homeopathy and Allopathy.  It was Ayurveda that took my interest. 

Over the years I have a gained a diverse clinical working experience and deep knowledge of Ayurvedic principles having completed my medical training both in hospital settings and private health care clinics. My areas of specialisation are fertility and reproduction.​

As an affiliated member of the Association of Ayurvedic Practitioners (AAPUK)  I continue to pursue my professional development and expand my medical and scientific knowledge through regular training modules.  In the last few years I have also written articles for international health publications and more so recently featured in Ayurveda Health & Tourism Magazine.

My own personal ethos is not just to help those with any physical disorder, but to achieve an optimum mental, emotional and spiritual health for all, applying the universal principles of Ayurvedic medicine to bring healing to each individual.   ​I am passionate about Ayurveda and making a difference to people's lives. I really do believe that everyone can find the right answers with a little help with regards to a healthy and long life.

I am most excited to join Lara at AyurCare UK. My journey into Ayurvedic medicine started in 2020, but I have been exposed to Ayurveda throughout my upbringing through the foods and healing home remedies that my mother was using, probably picked up by her mother and grandmother without even realising they had been practicing the Ayurvedic way of life.

 

I am a practicing GP having qualified with an MBBS in 1996. I did my senior house jobs in Emergency medicine and trauma, and ophthalmology. I then trained in General Practice and gained my GP qualifications in 2001. I specialise in diabetes, cardiovascular disease and ophthalmology.

 

I have had a wonderful and fulfilling career in General Medicine, but in the past 7yrs I started to feel as though I was putting a ‘sticky plaster’ over symptoms but not getting to the root of the problem, thus not resolving the conditions completely. This is when I started to search for an answer on how to cure the illness. I came across The Ayurvedic Institute, UK and thus my journey into Ayurvedic Medicine began. I have not looked back since !

 

It has been a fascinating journey thus far and I am learning all the time. It has taught me that we cannot look at one area of the body and only focus here-the whole person needs to be considered ie their history, their background, lifestyle, beliefs and concerns, the family history, where they live or lived and what the conditions were like in that country at that time. The holistic approach is what I had been searching for and Ayurvedic medicine allows us to support our patients wholly. We are so closely connected to Nature and the Cosmos, but we have forgotten this fact.

 

As part of my ethos, apart from wanting to help patients back to health, I am also seeking to remind people of our connection with nature and to trust Nature to heal them. Nature provides us with everything that we need. We do not need synthetic drugs which end up causing people more problems than they arrived with! With Nature’s help and Ayurvedic skills, I am now treating patients holistically, looking after not just the physical symptoms, but psychological, emotional and spiritual health too. It is all connected. We are all connected.

 

I am excited to introduce more Western doctors into Ayurvedic Medicine. Ayurvedic medicine is relevant to every patient, no matter where they live. This medicine is more relevant today than it was when it first started some 5000years ago. There is a lot of healing that needs to be done, to people and the Earth.
