AyurCare Therapists

I am Maria,  I am a certified Ayurveda Massage Therapist, Diet & Lifestyle Consultant member of the Ayurvedic Professional Association - APA. Certified Herbal Medicine Advisor by the Complementary Medical Association - CMA and Hatha Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance.

I am passionate about Ayurveda, Yoga and Nutrition and I believe that everyone can tap into their intuition to find the right answers particularly with regards to food and a healthy lifestyle. I always had a natural transport towards healthy living. I feel blessed I grew up in a place between the mountains and the sea, on the hills of the Amalfi Coast, in the south of Italy. I spent my childhood and teen hood in contact with nature developing sincere respect for healthy food and unpolluted air I could benefit every day.

Through a personal one-to-one we will devise your bespoke individual treatment/healing program for you using Ayurvedic diagnosis methods to assess your constitution type and current state of health.  As well as this, we will talk about your current diet and lifestyle habits, medical and genetic history, current life trends, work and personal/family relationships etc.  As part of the process, please be prepared to open up a bit about yourself.

We will discuss how small but positive changes can be incorporated into your lifestyle for your improved health and well-being and in accordance with your personal Ayurvedic Health Plan.  Changes may consist of some adjustments to your eating habits (food and drink) and some initial medicines may be prescribed.  Ayurvedic therapy treatments may also be recommended as part of your healing program.

The length and type of treatment depends on each person as different levels of support are required to maintain individual healing.

We operate on an appointment  basis only.   You may prefer to book a Pre-Consultation Enquiry when you can talk to us about the type of treatment you are looking for and if we are able to help you before booking an initial consultation appointment.

We offer in-clinic appointments (face-to-face) as well as Video appointments.

The Sanskrit word Ayurveda has two roots: ‘Ayu’, meaning life and ‘Veda’, meaning science. The practice of Ayurveda is founded on the principles of a 5,000 years old universal medicinal system which use is proving very much in existence today. Ayurvedic treatment is tailored to each unique person in a professional, supportive and compassionate environment.

Ayurveda believes that the human being is a microcosm of nature containing five elements. Ayurveda looks at a human being and treats in a holistic manner, taking into consideration the unity of mind, body and spirit. As a complementary and preventative medicine, it is very helpful in treating symptoms effectively.

According to Ayurvedic texts, a person is said to have good health when they enjoy a balance of physical and psychological elements, of energies produced in the body, and of tissues in the organs combined with proper elimination of wastes, a happy heart and soul, a happy, functioning mind and proper functioning of the five senses.

To put it simply, Allopathy treats specific symptoms with quick results, whilst Ayurveda works on the premise that all disorders (whether physical or mental) result from an imbalance of one of more of the factors mentioned above.  Effective treatment, Ayurvedic practitioners believe, lies only in the holistic approach. It is this approach that now leads psychiatrists to believe that Ayurveda holds the possibilities of an alternative treatment for mental health issues.

Ayurvedic medicine provides for a holistic change whilst Allopathic medicine deals with specific symptoms of the disorder.  Ayurveda recommends balanced dietary and lifestyle habits along with herbal treatment and therapy.  It has proved to be an alternative form of treatment, which not only includes treating the disorder – physical and psychological – but also bringing in a change in the lifestyle of the person to prevent future illnesses.

Ayurveda is helpful in treating a number of different problems, including digestive issues, circulatory & nerve complaints, female problems such as menopause, endometriosis, thyroid/hormonal imbalance, fertility and reproductive issues, obesity, joint & muscle pain, auto-immune disorders, skin problems, allergies, respiratory conditions, stress, anxiety, low mood and sleep disturbance.
